When I put on my Steeda UDP's I DID NEED A NEW BELT. The old one would not fit at all. Went to autozone and did the trial and error thing. Even though the OEM one only had like 10k on it at that point.

Try shifting your tensioner (towards the driver side)

No, it way easy. On my '04:
1) Park and leave car in gear!
2) Loosen the waterpump bolts
3) Loosen tension on belt and remove
4) Remove waterpump pulley
5) Remove alternator
6) Mechanic showed me this: Wrap a shop rag around alt pulley and twist rag to grab pulley. With an impact wrench, remove nut, replace with new pulley (and necessary spacer). Re-wrap rag on new pulley and tighten nut with impact wrench.
7) Unscrew overflow tank and push out of the way to your right. You can remove hoses and temporarily remove the tank if you wish.
8) Unfasten electrical connections on fan. Unscrew fan (2 screws) and lift straight up and out.
9) Unscrew bolt on crank pulley with 18mm socket and good sized breaker bar.
10) Use a pulley removal kit to the the pulley off. DON'T try to pry it off.
11) Put some instant gasket on the key area of the crank before bolting on new pulley
12) Align new pulley to crank key. Tap on GENTLY with rubber mallet. Once began, insert and tighten bolt. Don't forget to put some medium locktite on the bolt. Torque to 66lbs. Then turn another 90 degrees. (This is why the car is in gear!)
13) install waterpump pulley. Don't forget locktite here, too.
14) install alternator
15) install stock belt unless worn out. if so, replace with new of same size.
16) tighten bolts on waterpump pulley
17) replace fan and surge tank.
18) start and watch for a few minutes.
19) Drop the hood and enjoy.

The belt tensioner has a square hole for a breaker bar or rachet. Insert and you can easily take the pressure off of the belt. The impact wrench is another matter. You definately need it, but ONLY for the alt. You can take the whole alt to a shop and do the pulley swap in like 10 minutes. The rest you can do in the driveway.

I don't know about quality, but they make both types. Like Steeda, they make a SFI approved dampener for the kit, but you can also go with piggyback.
I had MAC piggies and they weight unbalanced the crank between 2500-2800 rpm. That threw off the crank position sensor, which in turn dropped cylinders 3 & 5. Plus, the three bolt that bolt the stock dampener to the aluminum pulley were backing out (my fault).
I recommend that you don't buy the pb style.

I installed the March udp's with the dampner built in not the piggy back. I took the alternator off and went to Advanced auto with the new pulley and they swapped it out for free (nice). Had a little trouble getting the new crank pully on far enough to start the threading off the crank bolt. This uses the same belt as before and a 1/2 inch breaker bar works to release the belt tensioner.
