could someone post a video of this? im not sure if this is what i hear or not. i hear like a ticking sound under acceleration, is that normal?

well I think there's ticking from valvetrain noise and there's pinging. I was kind of confused on the difference until I borrowed an old beater truck once and heard that thing pinging. the analogy everyone uses is marbles being shaken around in a jar. that's a pretty good description I think. I would not say taht "ticking" is a very good description of pinging. my engine makes a ticking sound under load. i think its normal.

thanks for the reply. i guess my car isnt pinging then its just under load. so youre saying that i would know the pinging if i heard it?

Make sure your spark plugs are tight and not loose. You don't want one flying out and ticking noise is a sign. If you think your motor is pinging, put super unleaded 93 gas and see if it goes away. Pinging sounds like metal scraping/tapping. If you put regular unleaded all the time, then the super/93 gas will probably cure this and determine if your detonating or not.
