I was hoping someone could help me. I have purchased a 2003 Mustang and for some reason my dome light is not going on when I open my door. I have toggled with my headlight switch, is this an option on my car that my dome light automatically goes on when I open my drivers side door. I can switch my light on manually but it does not light when I open my door.
Can someone let me know please.

turn your headlights on with the car shut off and open the door....do you get a ding sound? or a door ajar light if you open the door while the car is running?

it sounds like the sensor in your door that lets the car tell if the door is open, is dead...try opening the passenger door also to see if it comes on....

its a no to all of that, its that sensor...a lot of times they go back and the dome light stays on and the door ajar light stays on and people will unplug the sensor to make the problem go away

and check to make sure you have a dome light bulb, i forget if its different than the ones you turn on automatically...i havent sat in my car in 8 months, forgive me

i assume it turns on when you open a door...mine has never worked, but i dont think i had a bulb in there...i cant remember...but i had this problem in my truck and in my moms car...my truck i unplugged it when it went bad, and my moms car it was unplugged when she got it and we plugged it in and it worked
