I picked 1 up sat. @ autozone for $49.99 = $53.74 W/tax

I read somewhere you cant clean it because it has a high tech coating that resists build up. I saw it on the internet, so it must be true.

I figured it out, different parts...

The pre-2001-1/2 part is a Hitachi sourced unit with filtered vent--this one (Duralast p/n TV251, $52.99 online):

The 2001-1/2+ part is a Nippondenso part with no vent--Duralast p/n PV2001 ($84.99), it looks like this:

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, they are not interchangeable due to differences in the solenoid coil's inductance, and the PCM hardware and firmware drivers.

Hmm.. well thats not good for me then. Cuz i have the cheaper one for the pre 2001 and my car is 01.5+...

I thought that they were all interchangeable? either way, it works on my car and it starts up better than it ever has...

and my friends' 2000 iac valve worked on my car too..

I may buy one of the pre-2001-1/2 ones and try it on my '03--my brother can have it as a spare for his '99 and if it work's some of us can save a few bucks...

The shop manual says it won't, but then again I'm sure they'd like to sell more of the higher priced parts...

Couldn't hurt to try it. If i can find out which engine i have, ill let you know if the one with the black cap works, bc that's what has been on my car since i bought it 2 years ago, and im pretty sure i have the 01.5+ engine. I just have to figure out how to find out which engine i have...

I went out and counted before and i believe i counted 11 bolts on my valve covers... romeo?

so therefore, the pre 01.5 IAC valve works with romeo motors on the 01.5+ stangs...

and btw, my car was built in 02/01 (feb, 2001) and i have a romeo (if 11 bolts is romeo lol)...

ever since installing the IAC valve, my car starts up better than it ever has in 2 years!
