It's got me baffled, I cannot find anything like it on my '03--is it maybe some type of electrolyte level sensor for the battery?

I see nothing like that listed as standard or optional equipment on a 2k Mustang, but who knows?

After getting everything in place, i disconnected it from wire harness and let go of the wire to see where it naturally will go, it went in that area, so i looked around and found it... my friend tipped me on that trick - i am not naturally that clever

Two good things about that situation, then. You learned a very useful diagnostic skill and you would have figured it out as soon as you filled the cooling system.

When i changed to a polished coolant resoviour i had to kiss the coolant sensor goodbye so i Just have that connector free-floating, and the coolant light never came on for some reason.
