Fan turns on. I'll let warm up first, before hitting the street. Then I'll take a look at the coolant temp sensor. Thanks to all.

if the fan is working properly, it wouldnt be the temp sensor....if the sensor was bad the fan would either never be on and the car would run rich thinking its too cold, or it would always be on

Might be a bit of a leap, but, bad water pump? If the fan is on and the stat is good, maybe a problem with circulation.

If your thermostat is stuck open it will take a lot longer for your car to warm up. I had one stick open in -20 degree weather. Even after a half an hour I was still scraping ice off the inside of the windshield. It was so cold in the car I pulled off the road and stayed in a hotel until a shop opened up the next day. (Why does this stuff alway happen on a cross country trip on Sunday?)

Thanks for all the responses. I've replaced the thermostat. Flushed the radiator. Fan is working. My next guess would be the water pump. Just a leap here, but would the heater core have anything to do with my problem? Again, just a leap.

Well everyone, letting the car warm up seems to be working. Thanks for all the help. Now I have to post a new thread.

Default Found the actual problem

Blown head gasket. Thinking of doing the job myself. Any ideas or words of advice would be greatly appreciated.
