Default 2004 GT 5 Speed rear clunk noise

I have a problem and I have it narrowed down to control arm bushings in the rear or the rear end is shot, I'd like to know what you guys might think it is, I got a pretty good video of it earlier and everythings in detail on the youtube vid, Thanks-Nick

Here is the link-

That sounds to me like something hitting the driveshaft--tap it with the handle of a screwdriver and you'll hear the same noise...

sounds really hollow makes me believe your exhaust is shifting or tapping. Does it do it when your on the cruising on the road?

The driveshaft is hollow, and will ring like a bell when struck...

seems as if driveshaft wouldn't ring as much as a full hollow exhaust, besides, driveshaft did some rotations without any noise in beginning. Needs more info if same noise occurs while cruising or its stressing out in gear changes.

its just from 1st to reverse or reverse to first, switching directions basically. and I know the shaft is whats transfering the sound, also nothing is hitting the shaft or exhaust either. If you look carefully you can see the front of the rearend piviot up and theres alot of play in the ring and pinion

Go out and strike your driveshaft with the handle end of a 6" screwdriver, or with a 5/8" open end wrench, or the like (the screwdriver handle will make a soft ring, the wrench a sharper tone)--you will hear that sound, clearly and distinctly.

Then strike the exhaust with the same tool, it will likely be a sort of dull tone and if at all bell-like, a shorter duration tone with far less "ring"--at least that is what I have observed while working on cars for the last 50+ years.

Ummm yes I know my aluminum driveshaft is what is transfering the sound, I never said it was the exhaust, but I have already checked that, also nothing is hitting the shaft. Like I was saying you can see the rear end piviot up or down once the direction is changing, If you watch very carefully you can see it in the wishbone, and there is also a pretty good amount of play in the gears, heard theres suposed to be some but mine seems excessive, and I have 4.10s sitting in a box with a fully bearing and seal kit for the rearend as well.

Have you tried tightening any of your controll arms maybe they or one of them loosened up?

Ya everythings tight, the rubber bushings look to be shot though with quite a bit a cracks and some bulging.
