Unfortunately also, the gauge itself is driven by the instrument cluster electronics which expects, and can only process, a simple on/off input signal--the "sending unit" just connects the cluster oil presure sensor input to ground when the pressure is >= 6 psi.
Changing the sending unit to a "real" analog output unit will not work, in fact you would lose the idiot gauge function as well...
