Oh, the seat belt. Why in the world would you not have it on?

Guy, the belt has two purposes.

1) Accident restraint

2) Keep you in control. If you don't have the belt on, whether you realize it or not, you're hanging onto the steering wheel, therefore, not as 'in control' of the car.

Besides, most accidents happen close to home. You're gambling on the driving abilities of everyone else around you to keep you safe.

Sorry to preach and all, but I think you should reconsider the belt.

im going to sound like a old grumpy man here but what ever. I a fireman and have been one for 6 years, and i have been at countless accidents, wear people have not had thier seat belts on, and have seen alot of things that i wish i had never seen. Ejected bodies, people coved in blood and two DOA's (dead on arrival). everytime i get in the car the first thing that i do is put my seatbelt on, even if im only driving down the street. theres my input on that subject.

well if my girlfriend had her seatbelt on when she got in an accident she would have got seriously injured or died. so all this stuff is going in one ear and out the other, this was just a simple question.

To start, you need to make sure the parking brake is set, the truck/car is in Park (automatic), Neutral (manual), make sure the ignition is off and all the doors are closed, and all headlights and parking lights are off.

Turn the ignition switch to ON, but DO NOT START.

Wait for the safety belt warning light to go OFF(1-2 minutes).

The rest of this you have 1 minute to complete:

Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.
Turn on the headlights, turn off the headlights.
Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.
the seat belt warning light will be turned on for 3 seconds.

Within 7 seconds of the seat belt warning light turning OFF, buckle then un-buckle the safety belt and this will disable it
