Default Bad wheel hop after Lakewood 50/50's

So wheel hop has been sorta a problem for me for a while now. Mostly at the track only and mostly only in the burnouts.

Several months ago I decided to get some LCA's hoping to eliminate most of the hop, and decided to get what I thought was one of the best, the MM XD series ones.

I haven't been to thet track much after installing them but it did feel a lot better on the street. I eventually did go to a track last December and I was still getting a decent amount of hop in the burnouts. Some people said that it could be from a blown shock and I noticed that my right shock was a lot darker than my left. I've always wanted new shocks anyway so that was on my mod list.

Last week I picked up a brand new pair of Lakewood 50/50's for $80 and put them on. I went to the usual backroad with a straight stretch to test them out. At first it felt really good. I've been testing them out in the days after and now I've noticed even worse wheel hop. Sometimes it even comes when shift from 1st to 2nd.

What could posibly be the problem? I mean I know I don't have UCA's yet but really???? I also noticed that the Lakewood 50/50's are a bit firmer than my stock shocks. Could this be the reason?

Thanks,
Brandon

Firmer shouldn't cause the problem, usually you get wheel hop when your shocks are too loose.

Ya thats what I thought...the car felt darn good right after I installed it....I took it out to a straight road and did some test launches. Of course the wheels still spun a bit but it felt like I was doing it on a prepped track surface.

Now I am just getting bad wheel hop...

Anyone?a

Adj. UCA's so you can set the pinion angle might help, but I'm really not sure how much adjusting that is going to take away your hopping problem.

Ok so I was just at the local track tonight to give these shocks a try and I was happy to experience absoutely no wheel hop whatsoever. The burnouts very, very smooth. I only had 2 runs and cut exactly the same 60' each time, 1.768's. Still working to get my times down though....I did a 8.513 at 80.65mph

Awesome, that gives me hope that with my new rear suspension and some M/T DR's I can hit the 1.7 range. Hopefully I'll be with your buddy's 8.37 or better.

You should be able to hit 1.7's fairy easily....I see you are in NJ...Atco? Everyone seems to do really well at Atco

By the way how do you like those Strange 10 ways? I am thinking about getting them for the front...
