Replacing shifter
#21
Had the Hurst on a 83 5.0 GLX vert. w/ a roller motor, T5, and 8.8 rear w/ 3.73's. Its been traded since last time I needed to replace motor (1999) B 303 cam, weind dual plane stealth intake, holley 600, long tubes, OR exhaust, rear discs, weld draglites. All the usual bolt ons. Had a baby that year, traded the car w/ dropped valve for a 93 Wrangler w/ 31" tires & 9000 lb winch. My buddy still has the car.

Dude, i love my hurst! Night and day from my stock shifter. The built in adjustable shift stops made my shifts flawless, it may in-turn be what is causing you problems. Make sure you adjust them or remove them completely, it took a couple adjustments to get mine right, good luck!

Last week I installed STEEDA TRI AXLE shifter on my stock car. So far I would say its worth $199. Its more comfortable, durable and muh easier to shift.

I would buy a real shifter. Pro 5.0 short throw. Thats a real shifter for the mustang!
hurst shifters are old school. And the throw and feel really arent that good. Most people I know that have had a hurst hated it. But some love it. Most will tell you pro 5.0 or steeda. Pro 5.0 for the win though. Its a heavy duty s.o.b
And if you really want to go stock. I have two stock shifters. Both for the 3650. They are out of an '02 GT

.... that's like getting back together with a terrible ex-girlfriend. You may think it will feel good, but in the long run you will not want that.
