Replacing shifter

Replacing shifter
So I have a 2003 Mustang GT with a Hurst Short-throw shifter and I hate it. Well as luck would have it someone came by my workplace and just happened to have a stock shifter out of a 1998 GT.
Will it work? The bolt holes line up and it fits into place.

What exactly don't you like? The stock shift length is so long... I'd not go back to that if I had to. Plus, amoosenamedhank is right, they're different transmissions. If you want a bit longer throw, see if yours is adjustable or look into a Steeda Tri-Ax. I know I have one of those and there's two sets of bolt holes. I have mine out a bit more. It's not too short but a 100x better than the stock shifter.

I also have a hurst shifter... and there is no way I would go back to a stock one... How ever much you hate the hurst, you're going to hate the stock just that much more. I would wait it out until you have the funds to replace it for another aftermarket shifter.

There must be something seriously wrong with your shifter and/or tranny if you hate it to the point of wanting to go back to stock lol.
I have a Hurst billet/plus and I love it. I used to have the MGW but sold it for this Hurst with no regrets
