Need advice on cams install and what psi to run with eibach drag launch kit
I have an 04 GT 5-speed with the mods done to it that are in my vid...numbers are on a "mustang dyno"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbPHFh0HxZw I am wanting to upgrade to better cams next...will these be a good choice with my mods? With this kit it should be just about everything I need to install correctly? And will I have any problems running these with stock heads? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-K51802002/ and lastly I am running a Lakewood action traction lower control arms Lakewood uppers Lakewood struts and shocks sub frame connectors eibach drag launch spring kit with the airbag...what psi do you guys reccomend I run with this setup typically? oh and I do have M/T ET drag radials as well. |
I didn't know you were on this site. I'm over on SCR also.
Anyways, those cams in that kit, depending on the ICL, are most likely to cause PTV issues. I personally think there are better cams out there to be had rather than those. Everything you would need comes in that kit. Edit: come to think about it. Those cams are very close to the Hitech Stage 2 cams. I think you will be fine running those but again it still depends on the ICL. Have you looked around at other cams? Why did you choose the TF cams? |
The price is really why I am considering these.
I know Trickflow makes a good cam for a pushrod motor...so I thought why not consider these. Other cams I have been looking at are cushman stage 2's. |
Well with the CMS Stage 2 cams or really any Stage 2 cam (minus MHS) you run into possible PTV issues which Nick at Modular Head Shop has measured to be only .005" with the CMS Stage 2.
Most people on here will tell you CMS, Hitech, Comp Stage 2. I would take a look over at MHS. Nick's cams don't require spring upgrades and you won't run into any PTV issues. |
Yeah, those TF stage 2's are a tight squeez imo. I would not take that chance. Besides, those specs are not ideal if you're running the stock PI heads. I assume you plan on staying with stock heads since you didn't state otherwise?
+1 on the MHS cams. Their stage 2's can be installed at advertised specs without having to worry about ptv clearance, and are designed for stock heads. |
