‘Bout Ready to GIVE UP on UD Pulleys - HELP!!!
Okay, I am hoping that someone can help, as I am pretty frustrated. I have a 2002 GT and ordered the Mid-2001 through 2004 Steeda UD Pulleys from MustangTuning. When I did the install, the Steeda water pump pulley did not line up with the other pulleys, and my serp belt would only catch a quarter of the pulley at best.
My buddy who assisted with the install said that was definitely not right and would shred the belt. So I checked out the pics on Steeda’s site (http://www.steeda.com/-techtips/modwaterpump.htm) for identifying what year of water pump pulley I have, and it appears to be a 1996 – 2001 (*see pics below). (Strange, I agree...)
So I spoke to MustangTuning who put me in touch with Steeda who sent me a replacement pulley that was suppose to be a 1996 - 2001. The new pulley (also pictured below) appears to be the same as the old (a mid-2001 through 2004), hence the same issue. I called Steeda and they sent me another one, but this is the exact same one that I already have. [:@] So at this point I am ready to give up and leave it “as-is” with the stock water pump pulley and Steeda alternator and crank pulley.
Based on these pics, can anyone shed light on this, as I am thoroughly confused!
Thanks!

RE: ‘Bout Ready to GIVE UP on UD Pulleys - HELP!!!
Dude this is scary. My pulleys just came in today and they are the wrong ones too. Halfway through the year in 2000 Ford changed the water pump pulley for some reason. Did Steeda just give you a new pulley or did you have to send the old one back to them?

I just put Steedas on Saturday and yours look different. For Mid '01 - '04, that pulley should have holes evenly spaced around the pulley, not 4 pairs. You received the wrong ones. Call Steeda, Marine. If you can't get it straightened out, PM me. I have an idea.

Same thing happened to me dude. The guy that I e-bayed them from shipped me the correct one. In the mean time, I drove around with only 2/3 of them installed for a week or so.

jcdavis – The first time, I contacted Steeda and shipped my H20 pulley back to them, and they in return shipped me the one pictured. I then called and emailed them the pics from this post (last week), and they said that they’d get it squared away and get the correct pulley out, then sent via UPS the same, exact pulley.
They (Steeda & MustangTuning) have been very nice throughout this whole ordeal, but they’re probably gonna think that I’m INSANE when I call em back tomorrow to say that they sent me the same pulley and it still is the incorrect one.
I went next door and checked out my neighbor’s 99 GT – his aH20 pump and mine look nearly identical, only mine has that lip visible in picture #4 & #5.
04BlueGT – Can you post a pic of your stock pulley and your Steeda H20 pulley? I’m starting to wonder if maybe they have been sending me the 1996 – mid 2001 H20 pump pulley (which is what I thought that I had), when I instead have the mid-2001 – 2004 (although I really do think that I have the 96 – 01 after comparing it with my neighbors 99).

Sure. Here is the pic. I don't have a flash for this pic, so it may be hard to see the wp pulley. My alt pulley is the aluminum MAC, that is why it is red.

00silvergt, my car is a 2000 also and the instructions with the pulleys say that they are for a 1996-2001. As I understand it 2001 and a half is when the pump pulley was changed. I have the pulley wheel with the convex face(bowing outward) and the one that came with the set has a concave face. I guess I was sent the wrong one alltogether.

Thanks, 04BlueGT – I am thoroughly convinced now that I have the wrong pulley (as unusual as it would seem to have the wrong pulley shipped not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES!!!). If you compare the pics of your water pump pulley configuration with mine, mine has a convex face, and your pulley is pretty much flush with the other pulleys and not bowed out at all.
One of my employees’s husband is a certified Ford mechanic at a local Ford dealer. She also happens to be a neioghbor living 2 blocks from me, so I am going to have her husband take a gander at it this evening as well before calling Steeda, as I just KNOW that this will likely get ugly. I’ll keep everyone posted…

I have "March" underdrive pulleys and have had absolutely no problems since day one with my '98 GT. I would think Steeda has just been sending you the wrong part. Can't you email them with the same pics and get the right part sent out ASAP?
