ATTN Automatics with aftermarket shifters!
OKay, slight problem here, Anyone with a 94-98 Auto who has changed there shifter or removed it for any reason, help me out. So, I was removing the shifter handle to install the nifty leather shift boot I just bought. Of course you have to cut and then reconnect the wires to the Overdrive button in this process. So cut then and then crimped them back together. Everythign was working fine. Had to smack the shifter handle down pretty hard to get the gear selector button to engage (handle must go all the way down and it's a tight fit). Somehow by smacking this handle around, I ripped the tiny little wires that connect to the O/D button. PROBLEM is, they wires brok off way up inside the handle so I cannot reach them to reconnect. Apparently the airbags and blinkers run on the same fuse or power source or something, cause now my blinkers don't work and my airbag light will not go off, and don't forget I cannot turn off my overdrive. The shifter boot looks great though, haha. Anyway, does anyone know where I can get a replacement handle (stock of course)? I have searched high and low and have not found one yet. Or, does anyone have their stock shifter handle laying around after making the switch to something "cooler"? If so please PM me or email me! Any suggestions are more than appreciated, can't take too long before I get pulled over for not signaling...

RE: ATTN Automatics with aftermarket shifters!
Thanks for the link to the O/D button.... But what I really want is the stock shifter setup. Ford put that lil button in the perfect place. I can disengage the overdrive with my thumb, then drop the car from D to 2 and get a nice jump and a chrip from the tires. Always keeps those hondas from revving on me. If it were infront of and below the shifter, it would be both a reach and hassle to dissengage the O/D, definitely a more invovled manuver, which is time consuming and not condusive to dropping into 2nd gear. Is there no one on this forum with a 96-98 GT Automatic who has replaced their shifter handle and has their old one lying around. If so, I will BUY it! I personally think the stock one looks best. I like the one in the link that was posted, but it would look out of place in any car without other billet pieces IMO. Thanks again guys and if anyone knows of an auto who may have thier original shifter handle lying around, gimme a shout! I guess I should call up a junkyard....
