Truth about the HEC Diag Mode...
There is a persistent belief that the DTCs displayed by via the HEC (Hybrid Electronic Cluster) diagnostic mode are powertrain related codes, same as those available via a scan tool and the OBD2 port.
It is no one's fault for believing this, as many websites continue to put forth the notion--nonetheless the truth is that they are NOT. The bottom line is that the DTCs displayed by the HEC diagnostic mode are only those related to the instrument cluster's operation, mostly body (Bnnnn) and chassis (Cnnnn) codes.
