Ok So I was doing it wrong, Fords have a MHD of 4.415

So 4.415-2.628=1.787

The pinion measured at 1.789, So I should try a shim of .003?

Ok I tried .039" Shim,

Couple Things, My Backlash is most likely still to tight, and if I hold the ring, I can move the pinion back and forth against the ring pry 1/8-1/4" is this normal? or pinion too deep?
