Actually when mustangs reach a certain HP they usually switch to an auto because it's better for the strip. Several cobras that I know of do this. Well anyway. Its not bad at all. But the 5 speed is more fun. [sm=gears.gif]

hi just bought a 01 gt conv. auto and it's still alot of fun I just put the superchip programmer in and if I take off in 1st and manually **** into 2nd at 5,000 rpm it will still squall the tires pretty good at 50mph. The car is stock except for the programmer 4.6 auto 3.27 gears soon to be 4.10. I still like to beat on the 1996 5spd gt it has 3.73, pi head swap, mac cai, superchip, mac o/r x pipe, flowmaster 40.

Get a tuner, shift kit, and gears and your better then a 5 speed

For those 5-spd guys, they have those modules, that you can set your Rev limiter to like 2800RPM, for staging.. In DSM's, we called them Stutterboxes... You put your clutc and gas to the floor, and it is set when you start your car...
Works well for AWD... I know that doesn't really help...

Most people, it's traction limited, regardless of drivetrain layout.. After that, it becomes a "Drive specific" thing... But, once you know your car as you should, almost like a glove, then you can identify the issues in the way of getting a perfect .400 at the lights, and a solid 60ft time...
Any of you guys hitting low 12's or lower have any technic they'd like to pass on??

LMAO, theres no way a auto is 23% slower than a stick shift. I raced a 03 GT and he couldn't budge me. The whole time he was a hood length ahead but thats it..

In response to all about the 23% loss, it was published in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. One of their projects was a white 2002 GT auto. Just stating what I read and no I am not retarded Blueangelfightr.
