Default Strange Engineering Adjustable Rear Shocks

Anyone else ever try/buy these shocks? I bought these off of summit and they're driving me nuts....they came with wrong bushings and the damn things clunk worse than a truck with a broken leaf spring. Everything is tight and installed correctly, I even put the stock bushings back in since the new bushings were wrong and they still clunk over bumps.

I have come very close to buying Strange shocks several times over the years, then inevitably I run across a story such as yours. Clunking and other noises seem common, as do issues with missing and/or incorrect parts.

Have you played with the adjuster to soften them up?

Yep, seems as though the softer i go, the louder the noise o_O....how ironic that the summit racing tech support guy put me on hold while he claimed to talk to strange engineering tech line and they told him "they never heard of a shock absorber making noise or being defective out of the box"

I have them front and back. They're known for being a fairly noisy shock/strut. With all due respect, people buy the Strange 10ways because they're a decent budget-minded adjustable shock, and when going for budget, don't expect the world out of what you're getting.

Well compared to other shocks, 68 bucks a piece really isn't that much of a budget...and to be able to hear a shock clunking over my exhaust (full length headers o/r h pipe) is a pretty damn loud clunk IMO....

I'll just rig something up to lessen the noise...fair warning out there to anyone else who wants to buy these though

They are just about, perhaps THE, cheapest adjustable shocks out there. However something I learned a long time ago, and still sometimes get tricked up by, is:

"If you buy the cheapest there is, there is a very good chance you will get the cheapest there is..."
