ive done it 3 times, i hope you dont have LT headers cuz then youll have a whole extra step but if you dont then:

remove
- midpipe
-driveshaft
-remove shifter
-remove starter, i just rest it somewhere, make sure the battery is unplugged both + and - cuz youll get shocked lol
-unbolt crossmember and remove
-undo all wiring connectors
-undo the clutch cable
then start unbolting it from engine, the inly bolts that are a pain are the ones on top, wuth a swivel and a bunch of extensions and some muscle theyll come out, dont worry the trans wont fall on you once they removed theres also two small bolts on the bottom by the oil pan drain that face the front of the car dont miss these. once thats out if it doesn't break free from wiggling it around you make need a pry bar, the input shaft is in the clutch so its not gonna come dropping out until you pull it straight out, once its free pull it out and slide it out from the car, nows the time you wanna replace clutch/flywheel and replace your rear main seal

yeah cuz if it ever starts leaking your gunna have to pull all this **** out again. its a $10 seal, the rear cover pops off with some bolts, but when you put it back you gotta rtv seal it on around the block and oil pan

you 2 cant even get the mid pipe off yet you want to take a transmission apart to
"see whats wrong" yikes.

if you have all the nuts and bolts out of the mid pipe, then it should come right off. What exactly do you mean slips on?

its not a ball and flange fitting its a slip on pipe, where they U bolt clamps or band clamps, if u bolt it would have creased the pipe and make it almost impossible to take off, try more wd40 maybe when heat it up, use a mallet and smack it around a little itll budge eventually

You need to loosen the catback which will give you wiggle room to get the midpipe off.

iv taken the exhaust off befor and it came apart pretty easy. i think its a little rusted to tell you the truth. the midpipe is already desconected from the catback. that part came off just fine. its where the cats conect to the downpipe i guess u would call it, that i cant get off. i put alot of wd40 on there and let it sit so i guess ill let it sit for a while and then take a hammer to it haha.

once the transmission is out my friend is gona take it appart and see whats wrong with it. 3rd and 4th gear grind real bad and wont stay in gear even if you hold it in place. im hopeing that it is just my syncros and we can replace them then be good to go. my friend just got out of some tech school so he has a good idea of what hes doing. he also just replaced his 1st and 2nd gear gears in his wrx transmission and everything went great so i guess i trust him haha.
