Default Bought 2003 Mustang. Carpet help.

Hey. My girlfriend just bought a kickass 2003 GT. The whole car is flawless and factory original: in absolutely amazing shape. It has been about 3 weeks and there hasn't been so much as bad shift (auto) or engine hiccup. The only surprise we encountered was when we removed the nice heavy duty Goodyear floormats, the carpet was totally ****ed up on the driver's side, with a significant tear on the passenger's side. Odd thing is, I have since seen quite a few for sale on-line with similar carpet problems in the same areas.

Is this a known issue with this generation of Mustangs? I just got done putting a new carpet in my 84 Camaro and refuse to do it again to this car. Do you think a body shop can somehow just sew in a new section to repair that spot? I'm worries about moisture and dirt getting under the carpet and rotting the floorboard over time. I still have some leftover Dynamat just big enough to cover both spots

Thanks,

-Oliver

I've never heard of this being a common issue. By how you are describing it, it seems fairly obvious that the previous driver probably spent a lot of time driving the car without any floormats. I bought new GT style floormats for my car when I first got it and right now there is very heavy wear on where my right heel rests on the carpet.

Buying a replacement carpet set isn't too expensive...I think AmericanMuscle.com sells them. I would just knock it out once for all and be done with it.

I just did the carpet in my camaro. It was some expensive carpet from ACC. Mass Backing...Ultra Plush...Took me a very long time to get it in. Some of the moldings were off and it took so much work the move and manipulate it to fit into the right curves and corners. A **** load of excess material too.

Do any of the mustang carpets drop right in? No modifications or **** neccessary? I know factory carpets fit the best, but thats even more $$ than I can put down.

Also, are the Leather seats in the deluxe GT real leather or immitation?

Thanks

im pretty sure the ones from AM will drop right in without any modifcation PM AMNick for verfication. As far as the seats go, they are real leather.

Mine plopped right in, got it form CJ pony parts, only thing i had to do was cut out the opening for the shifter/center console area and some other minor trims. Overall was not a hard install whatsoever.

I checked out both. I also found the factory carpet from ford is only 300 bucks. I paid 700 for my camaro carpet from ACC and the factory would have cost me over 1000

So 300 for new factory carpet sounds cheap to me. Plus nothing fits better that OEM.

Guess I know what I'm doin over spring break...

My Mustang IS my Daily driver/Work car. I spend each day driving from one account to another wearing Steel toe Boots. I bought some cheap floor mats that YES i eat them up, If it's wet, my boots, Nasty.

On the weekend i toss in my Ford Floormats. Sounds like he just tor them up, If you wanna do it right i say put in New Carpet, While you have it out put some sound barrier down. I know sometime it seems easy upgrades can be a for what ever reason "HARD" but ive done it twice, once in a 99 and in a 66.

If its no big Deal, Just through some floor mats down and forget about. nobody will know it's there but you!
