Fun with gears
A couple weeks ago I had a set of 3.73 gears installed by a reputable shop, I got the car back and they whined like hell on deceleration, I called the shop, they asked me to bring the car to another local shop to get them re-done as he was going to be out of town. The new shop pulled them out checked everything over made a few shim adjustments and said everything looked good and put it back together, went for a ride and it whined even worse than before. He thought I probably needed a different set of gears altogether. So I drove the car home and made the shop come pick up the car. They had it for a few days put the new gears in and put over 150 miles on the car they called me today to pickup the car, we went for a ride and the gears were quiet. I brought the car home and immediately could smell gear oil. I looked around didn't see anything leaking on the ground. Decided I wanted to change my rear wheels, went to pull the lugs nuts and they were all loose, pulled the wheels off and inside of the rim is covered in gear oil both sides are leaking from the axle shaft seals, the differential cover is leaking as well. I can easily change the seals, but wondering what you guys would do?
