Default Manifold Leak

I just tore apart my entire top end because I thought that I had a cracked manifold. I pulled it apart and I don't see any cracks. I think it might just be the gaskets because they were soft and had a little crack. For anyone who has had this issue with the manifold did you have a noticable crack or are they pinhole cracks and not noticable.

Please let me know because if I can save $200 bucks I will.

Thanks,

Steve

mine has cracked twice and the crack was not visible at all either time. I would say you deff did the right thing just replace it because the new manifold will come with the new style gaskets that are pressed right into the manifold already

That makes me feel a lot better. I was about to just buy new gaskets and put the old intake on. I will just buy a new one. Where and what kind did you buy. I was looking at the American Muscle plastic replacement. Does that one come with the gaskets already pressed on or do I have to buy some from the dealer? Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I got mine from autozone for 200 bucks. It was a dorman brand and gaskets are always pressed in and ready to go with dorman, plus it had aluminum water jacket. The one on american muscle I believe is factory ford replacement which I am almost positive will not come with gaskets. Just becareful if you get it locally because the ports on your heads are shaped differently than pre 99 model mustangs and a lot of dumb people at local part store think they are the same for all 4.6 motors

I am doing the same thing and found that there are two diffrent brackets for the alternater. you can get just the intake or the kit that will come with the bracket. I got just the intake and had to order the bracket. it's 20 bucks
