For the most part it runs just fine on cold starts. Somtimes, I'll hear a small noise but it happens so fast, less than a second, that I can't even really describe it. Definately not a knock.

You may also want to consider, if it rarely/never goes below 30°F where you are, using 10W-30 oil. I have run Pennzoil or "Q" (same thing) full synthetic 10W-30 in my '03 since I got it on Pearl Harbor Day in 2006--over 70k miles and it doesn't burn a drop.

The 5W-20 is much more about fuel economy than engine life. I know I'll get flamed for such heresy, but read this anyway...

I will try that as well. I live in San Diego so no 30 degree weather here... lol I hope that it is the filter. I'm bringing to the shop and my buddy is going to test the oil pressure after work. It's just frustrating because it doesn't do it all the time. Last night I drove it for about an hour and it was fine, it's only when it is hot.

Is it possible that there could be a bad ground connection for the sending unit?

Is it possible that a faulty pcv valve is causing this? I know I need to replace it since when I took the stock intake off, there was a crap load of oil in the hose.
