I have a 98 mustang gt. I bought this trans for 200 dollars the other day hoping to rebuild it. but Ive been looking on the trans and I dont see 4r70w on it anywhere. I was told it came out of a 2005 f-150.

I know nothing about automatic transmissions (I've only owned 3 cars in 45+ years that had 'em), however I found this, and saved the link, a while back that may be of some help...

I think from doing some research that it may be a 4r75e, which seem to be the trans used in the 20054 models. I guess I just need to know if it will bolt up. thanks for the link cliff but it didnt really help.

Yes it ought to bolt up

And the 4r75 is a little better then the 4r70

ok i looked the trans over real well, it has the year 99 lasered on the bell housing. other notable codes are 43w theres a 41 on the edge of the bell housing. theres another long code but i dont have it with me atm. Assuming this is from a 99 f150, will it bolt right up to my 98 4.6? Also are the torque converters the same im not looking for a stall converter or anything just want to get back on the road riight now.
