Default white smoke and rear end noise

Once in awhile when I put it into reverse a puff of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. My friend said that, that is what happens when it burns coolant. So he said it could be the beginning stages of a blown head gasket. There is no coolant in the oil and the coolant level has no gone down any.

Also there is a roaring noise in the rear end and the same friend said that it is either the wheel bearings/carrier bearing. It has a constant noise no matter the speed, and it as pretty much the same noise level at all speeds. It also when i turn left or right squeaks in the rear end. He said that is probablt just form the bearings.

Does it puff smoke only when you put it in reverse, or does it do it when you rev the engine? If it's the HG leaking, it will smoke every time you rev it and you will lose coolant.

Only in reverse and not every time. I do have no cats.

Today I brought it to this ford mechanic. He sed it def not a HG, its just the exhaust. The bearings definately went out tho. So he is going to replace the gearing, new MAF sensor because my check engine light is on, welded in my subframe connectors, installed my upper control arms, and putting in new 3.73 gears. All for about 1k depending on if he has to just clean the MAF or put a new one in.

There is your problem then. The MAF is causing it to run rich and the cats aren't burning it off, thus producing the white smoke.

Head gasket. Sorry to tell you. Compression check the cylinders and check your coolant level.
