MY friend has a 2001 GT similar to mine, with basically stock components. I am wondering - he showed me a video clip of this sound that occurs upon startup and continues the entire time he is driving his car. He says he can see and feel the knocking from under his seat.

It doesn't sound too much like rod knock to me, because it kind of has an "air-y" sound about it, it's not a defined metal knock. He says that the knocking increases with speed.


Any ideas? Exhaust leak??

tell him to adjust/align his exhaust. sounds to me like it was poorly installed and is making contact with the body somewhere. the leaking sound could also be explained by a poorly installed exhaust.
