I used the STP Fuel Injector cleaner made with Jet Fuel on my engine. For some reason it has made my exhaust louder. The car does have a little more pep tho and gas milelage is only very slightly better. I was wondering if the sound increase is normal or should I get my engine checked out. BTW my car has about 58,000 miles on it.

It cleaned all the carbon **** off the valves, which means just a little bit more air coming in and out the engine. So, I suppose it would be normal to hear a slight increase in noise. Did you run it through the tank or vacuum lines?

I ran it thru the tank when I was filling it up with gas. I heard that for a few dollars it would help my engine since people usually put higher octane gas in mustangs thinking it helps the engine. Since my car was used with 56,000 miles I said why not.

Oh yeah, if it cleans off the cabon and other stuff where does it go? It dosen't settle in the engine does it?

Out the exhaust. If you suck it through a vacuum line (making it more concentrated than when you mix it with your fuel), your car will actually start to smoke. The smoke is all that bad **** coming out at once, where as through the gas tank it is cleaning it a little at a time. Which is why you don't see any smoke.

Thats why you gotta drive crazy when you have cleaner in the gas.. make sure everything gets pumped out the exhaust.

just put the cleaner in your gas tank, park in your garage, and rev like crazy. make sure the door is open tho

It burns off. It actually ignites and the smoke leaves out the exhuast.

Yeah I was told to rev like crazy, that's how I noticed it had gotten louder. I guess it's a good thing then. I'm glad it worked.
