why do you want to remove your hood latch? then people can just walk up and open your hood....

It depends on the type of pins you get--are you having problems with your hood flying off?

I left mine on but I lowered it down so it does not lock I'm only using it for the safety latch part. I'm scared someone will pull the pins I won't notice start driving down the road and have the hood fly up.
And if your just starting to get into AutoX. The most important thing you can do your car is NOTHING. Seat time,Seat time,Seat time,Seat time, that is what you need to worry about 1st. Your going to be seriously pissed when someone with a bone stock car beats your time because they are learning what to do and there car before they start modifying. Plus once your not stock you will be in a class that you will not be competitive in for a while

Certainly DO NOT remove or disable the OEM hood latch!

As others have said, this is not only for security of your mods being stolen/tampered with, but the pins are really additional safety over that of the existing latch. I actually installed pins to get my cheapo aftermarket hood to fit tightly around the sides. The edges were not even with the fender and looked like crappola
