synchros or shifter?

synchros or shifter?
i have a 2000 gt w/ t-45 tranny. With the stock shifter the 1-2 shift was pretty smooth but the 2-3 was a little rough(i had to pause for a sec for it to go into 3rd smoothly). I just put in a tri-ax shifter lastnight and now the 1-2 shift seems really rough, but the 2-3 shift is a lot smoother than with the stock shifter. So is it the tranny/synchros, or is it the shifter thats the problem??
