Since the starter fluid trick didn't work detecting a vacuum leak how did you finally find the leak? Just wondering in case I need to do the same.

Checked all the gaskets, and sure enough the guy who had swapped my heads left some gaskets out between the intake plenum, intake spacer, lower intake (where they all bolt together).

I had/Still have the same problem after 6 months. I dont have a vaccum leak and i did all the computer crap. Unplug the idle air control plug. That will fix it. Ive been running with it off for ever and it does nothing to performance, it just settled my idle. When i try to plug it up, the idle goes nuts, so try it.

Does it still idle at normal speed or at 500 rpm like mine did when I had tried that?

Oh. Another thing to check is the cold air kit. Most are made for 96-04 GT's and on the earlier models (not sure exactly what years) the IAT was seperate from the MAF. On the newer ones they are integrated, so on the cold air kits there's usually a hole for the IAT sensor and you may not need it if you have one of the newer IAT sensors.
