High Idle

High Idle
I just installed a C&L 80mm MAF, C&L Inlet Tube, MAC Upper intake Plenum and a MAC 75mm TB on my 2001 GT. Now I'm experiencing an idle problem. When I come to a complete stop the idle sticks at 1,500 rpm for about 4 seconds before it drops to normal - (750rpm.?) I checked for vacuum leaks and I tried to adjust the TPS (without a volt meter). Anyone experience a similar problem and found a fix? Also, I've read that to adjust the TPS take a voltage reading by testing the green and black wires leading to the TPS but I see three wires leading to the TPS, all black. So not sure which wires to probe for the test.

RE: High Idle
I think it is a vacuum leak or like redass said just disconnect the battery for a while to reset the computer. If it was the TPS then the engine would act like its hunting for an idle speed. Many people have this problem after installing intake mods. Just make sure all gaskets are sealed, hoses are attached, and everything is tight.

RE: High Idle
I disconnected the battery for about an hour to reset the computer. I read on another forum that after doing so it takes a few days for the computer to reacclimate itself and compensate for the new TB and MAF. I'll repost in a few days and let you know if the problem is resolved. Regarding a vacuum leak, I was told by MAC Performance to spray engine starter fluid (while the engine is running) around the manifold. If the idle starts to fluctuate then there is a possible vacuum leak. Never heard of that before but I tried it and no fluctuation in idle speed. I was a little concerned doing this - spraying starter fluid on a hot engine. I had a heavy blanket handy.
