Default STS and Tranny Fluid Questions

1.) I think I'm going to get the American Muscle short throw shifter. If anyone has any experience with using this shifter, I'd appreciate comments. I've heard that some of the screws strip easily, but I can reuse the old ones for that.

2.) If I do buy the shifter, should I change the tranny fluid? My car has 135k on it and I have no idea when the last time the fluid was changed.

Thanks.

I have no experience with that shifter but I have a steeda tri-ax and it is a very well made product it it shift very nice.If your like me and have no idea when the tranny fluid was changed last I would go ahead and do it. I just bought a 96 gt myself and whent through and changed the motor oil/tranny fluid/ and rea end oil/ spark plugs/fuel filter. It may seem like a lot but its cheap insurance to know exactly when everything was changed. also would recomend gm sychromesh in the tranny, cost a lot but its worth it.
