Can I ask a dumb question? Have you pulled all of the spark plugs and looked at them? My truck was making this sound with a broken piston. I changed all the lash adjusters on the passenger side because a ford mechanic listened and said for sure it was them...then that didnt help and I pulled the plugs and found number 5 all bent to hell lol. Does this motor have boost>?

yea, ive pulled the plugs no issues there. I did end up finding that the chain did tighten up with oil pressure. I put it back together and am now gonna give it a day of running to see if the noise goes away( hydraulic lash adjuster breaking in). Thanks for everyones help.
