Default mishimoto 180 degree stat not fitting???

i bought this mishimoto 180 degree stat to put in my car. i brought it to the shop and they told me that it doesn't fit and that it is too big when they went to change it.

i got it from american muscle and it says on the box 96-04 thermostat so i dont think this is the wrong one. has anyone ever had this type of problem or is the shop guys just dont know what they are doing.

btw my car is a 96 for some reason i feel like its an odd year. dont ask why.

So you bought something that was over priced and I doesn't fit too??? Can you send it back and get your money back?

I will try to avoid bad mouthing any company, but I have had several issues with Mishimoto products not working very well.

Just go down to your parts store and get a Stant 180 deg. thermostat.

i have had the same problem from thermostats from autozone. i dunno why but 2 times out of 3 they have been too big. i have also heard mixed things about mishimoto products.

Without tuning for it it won't do anything--except drive the fuel trims negative in closed loop, and make engine run a bit richer in open loop--which GTs tend to do at WOT anyway.

Also if your driving is mostly in-town and short trips it will tend to sludge up the engine, as the oil will never get hot enough to completely boil off the nasty combustion by-products.

Other than that go for it...
