Default Truth About Stock

I just bought my first Mustang It's an '02 5-speed. What are the stock gears for a 5-speed? I was told 3.08. Then I was told 3.10. Then I was told 3.27. Do all 02' have a limited slip rear? I was told they do but on Hypertech's website their test mule was an '02 with "non-limited slip".

By the way, this is a great website/forum.

The '02 should be a ford 8.8 inch limited slip with 3.27s. On the back of your axle cover, there should be a sticker with 3.08, 3.27, etc.

3.27.Non-limited slip?Could be a "locker"(slips a little,only around turns).It could be a "spool"(don't slip at all,track use only).Or it could be a"single leg"(only one wheel pulls,Not likely)

3.27 with the trac loc. Typically the posi effect of the T-loc only lasts 40k with hard lanuches and then is usally rebuilt.

If any plans for gears save up a litte and swap to 31 splines and a nice Tract loc from auburn or eaton to go with the gears. It will make a very nice stron rear end that can handle what most of us put are cars through.
