this sounds a bit complicated.. maybe itd be better just to use concentrated fuel injector cleaner at every oil change??

I have often cleaned injectors using that method, it works well. One thing not mentioned was to use a regulated air source, I generally use 40-45psi.

Also after the first cleaning and reverse blow out I dip 'em in clean solvent and then blow them out in the forward direction as a last step--my thinking being that that is the way the fuel will be flowing and I don't want it dislodging any crap that might have been trapped in the spring, plunger, or upper passages...

Sorry for bringing an old thread back from the dead… but where do you get the fuel injector service kits? I got my girly's fuel injector tips pretty gummed up with oil/dirt/crud while removing the fuel rail during a lower intake gasket R/R.

The problem cleaning it by hand its very hard to do it since the injectors are actuated by an electric current which opens them up and sprays it but you can do cliffys method and should get them a little bit clean! Other idea is run a tank of 100 octane through it that should solve the issue np.

Electrical circuits are my bread and butter. Finding new filters is the hard part. :-)

Picked up a fuel injector connector from my local auto parts store (probably would have been cheaper to go to a local junk yard though, but I was already at the parts store). one wire went directly to the ground terminal on the car batter. The other wire went to one side of an on/off push-button switch. Then another wire going from the other side of the on/off push-button switch to the positive terminal on the batter… Done… Now when I press the button it will actuate the fuel injector. Pretty handy.
