Why not just go with a set of DR's for your stock wheels? No offense, but you probably aren't going to be running high 12's with 260 rwhp, so you aren't really putting down enough power to warrant getting a big sticky rear tire. You could even just buy a pair of rear 17x10.5's that match your fronts and put a DR on them.

Sure you can. There are plenty of guys on these forums running bolt on cars in the 12's, it just takes the right tire, the right rear gear, a decent suspension, and a guy willing to drive it.

well for one, and i think i stated this in the original post, i don't want DR's on my daily driver, as i don't want to hafta buy a new set of $200+ tires every 10,000 miles or less, and i enjoy traction in wet condtions. also, i just bought 2 new rear tires 2 months ago, so thats completely out of the question.

also, as the guy before me stated, 12s can be accomplished with ~260hp. theres actually a write up about it on stangnet, i think.

Just put a set of Nitto 555 r's on today 245/45/r17. My car is stock automatic with flow-masters so I shouldn't need anymore tire.

There's a couple write ups on how to make a 12 second new edge on this forum LOL. If I were you I'd look on Craigslist for a set of used weld racing wheels 15x7 or 15x8 with a 4.5-5.5 backspacing and a set of DRs or Slicks already mounted. They go for pretty cheap around here all the time.

i see ur sig says the heartbreaker. only my .02 but if u run a 15 x 10 on a mickey thompson ur gonna be putting a new word, axle breaker on there lol. i run a 15 x 8 prostar on a 275/60/15 on my car and it takes a 4.10 rear gear to get them going.

personally, i would run a 15 x 8 wheel with a 4.5 bs on a 275/50/15 bfg, this will give u a little spin out of the hole, and shouldnt break anything. if u wanna run a mickey thompson tire, u will hook better, close to 2 tenths of a second roughly, but u run the chance of breaking the stock axles.

I didn't say it's not possible, but from the mods in his sig I really doubt he's going to be running 12's with a set of sticky tires.

i was worried abt that too.. ive talked to a few people who have snapped the 8.8 at the track like you mentioned. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GWM-93-580039P these have a 5" bs, would that be acceptable? like i said i dont know much about tire/wheel combos, but am trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.. hell i don't even really know what the bs affects lol
