Default Found culprit, now why

So my car has been dropping rpm's every few minutes or so or sporadically when stopped. Nothing erratic, just falls from normal (about 750/800) down to around 400/500 and then pops back up. I just realized this happens every time the fan kicks on.

What would cause this? Is my fan about to go? How do i fix it?

MIne does the same thing. The fan will come on for roughly a minute, and then go back off. It will do that every few mins. I wouldn't think it would be the fan, as I just replaced mine about a yr ago. I just try to live with it. Hope you can find an answer.

Thanks dudes.

Somebody on another forum mentioned that I should get my alt checked out. Gonna test that today (original alt with 120K+, 7 y/o).

Also heard that maybe it is the IAC but I am pretty sure I checked that out a few months ago and it was good.

I'll report back with details as they come...

just take out the IAC and clean it out thoroughly with carb cleaner. if that makes the problem almost completely vanish, then thats the problem. i would still suggest replacing the IAC, but cleaning it would be a good temporary fix
