Default Timing Chain Slack Question

OK i have some slack in my drivers side timing chain, its on the bottom side of the chain right after the camshaft gear. I just want to know if this is normal because there is more slack on this side than there is on passenger side? Thanks.

I just pulled the motor in my car and there is a nice size gash in my oil pump. Now what I believe is the timing chain got some slack and slapped the oil pump and gashed out some aluminum I believe some got on my cam runners and cams because the cams and runners are scored from where the aluminum scraped it. So the problem is I assume similar to yours. The problem is I have to get new heads becuase the cam runners are damaged and I run the risk ofthe cams locking up and the question is what caused the chain tensioner to lose pressure and give slack to the chain? Maybe someone with similar experience can help us out
