Angry Blown head gasket

Car was overheating for some time. Changed several items. Started having what sounded like an an exhaust leak. Found air coming from the passenger side head. Thinking of doing the work myself. Any suggestions or words of advice?

If it's a 4.6L, it's one of the easier motors to work on. Just get a book and take your time, you will be fine.

You're high on Christ if you think the 4.6 is one of the easier engines to change a head gasket on.

Mind you it's not a 10 on the difficulty scale (10 being mic'ng rings & Balancing pistons) but it's definitely harder than a pushrod or most other VOC.

This.

It's something you could do yourself, just not in an hour.

Heh, you ever changed a head gasket on a Northstar Cadillac? How about a 3.8L Camaro? Maybe an 86-89 Honda accord? Believe me, the 4.6L is a cake walk compared to those. It could be that I have worked on so many ****ty motors that it's easy.

I wont touch a northstar caddy after my last thermostat/water pump fiasco. I have changed a HG's on many different 3.8's including the mullet pellet Camaro. As for hondas, lol, I've built them all and I'd much rather change a HG or other in A,B,D 16's or 20's than change the HG in a 4.6. As for the A20 in the Accord specifically, it just looks intimidating because of all the BS cluttering up the view of the engine.

Well Guys, thanks for the ah vote of confidence. I've changed the intake manifold in the past. I have an idea what I'm getting into. Just wanted to know of any tricks that I may need to know.

does head work require you to pull the motor?

It would certainly be easier, but you don't have to. The biggest problem is the back head bolts have to stay in the head.

I read that somewhere about the back bolts. I'll have to remember that. Starting the project this afternoon.
