Default Mushy Brakes

I changed out my pads and rotors on my front end the other day. When I applied the brake, it felt mushy. I bled about 1 pint of fluid out and that helped out about 90%. I then realized that I had bought Carbide Metallic brake pads instead of Ceramic. Could this give my pedal a different feel?

Carbon metallic? If they are, those should stop your car on a dime. Unfortunately they sometimes have a tendency to squeak. I would say you need to make sure you have everything installed correctly. Are your pads seated properly? Did you remember to clean of the rotors before installing because they have a coating on them. Did you bleed all four corners? If not, I would. If so, I would do it again, and you might want to think about a good synthetic brake fluid for best results.

I only changed the front end. I didn't mess with the back at all. When I did push the calipers back in, the brake fluid came out of the resivor on top of the master cylinder. I have bled about 1 pint from the front two brakes only. Do I need to bleed all four? Yes, they are carbon metallic and they leave tons of brake dust. I am seriously thinking of just going and getting ceramic pads anyways.

Carbon metallic are not needed for the Street. The order you bleed brakes is very important. Always start at the furthest wheel first. Right order should be:

RR, LR, RF, LF

Switch to a different pad and clean the rotors. Alot of the "mushy feel" may be in your mind to. Seems to happen alot, all of the sudden you notice the "feel" of the brake pedal when you overlooked it before.

Do I need to bleed the back brakes even if I didn't touch them? They were out of Ceramic pads and this is why I went with the carbon metallic. I am going to switch back to the ceramic next week.
