Midpipe or Cat-back

Midpipe or Cat-back
I`d like to upgrade my stock exhaust system. For a first shot I`m debating between midpipe or cat-back. I `m leaning towards some h/x-pipe that would give me some extra ponies and a nice rumble. I was considering getting a full catback ,but installation as I heard involves either removing rear axle or welding which is not something I would be able to do with my home tools. Would I be able to install a midpipe myself? which brand is the easiest to install? I`d like to go with midpipe and catback together at once but financially it is impossible for me now. Any thoughts on this ? any advice? thanks in advance

RE: Midpipe or Cat-back
Actually, you can do both yourself at home with very few tools.
If performance right away is what your looking for, definitely go with the midpipe. The gains are better for sure.
If and when you decide to go with the catback, all you have to do is cut the stock pipes before the axle so you can get them out without needing a lift. Most catback systems are completely bolt-on, so no welding is required. Just unbolt and cut the stock pipes off, and bolt the new ones back one. It's really that simple.
The midpipe is just as easy. Unbolt the stock midpipe, disconnect the front and rear 02-sensors, remove 02-sensors and screw them into the new pipe, then bolt everything back up. If you go with offroad, subtract the 02-sensor part.
I went with SLP catback and a Magnaflow Catted-X myself and couldn't be happier. It's loud, but is extremely low sounding down low and screams like mad up high. It's just right!
Good luck with your decision!
