Short throw shifter help

And I must admit to a mild obsession, but it makes me grin every time I drive the car...

It IS for those who want the most precise shifter available for our cars.
This comes at the expense of a bit more noise, "notchiness", and shifting effort--I.e. it replaces the rubbery monkey-motion stock shifter with something more befitting a real sports car.

Never is a long time, however the MGW has a quite strong centering spring (they claim the strongest on the market) that makes going from 2nd to 3rd just a question of pushing forward while allowing the spring to do the work of getting over to the 3-4 gate...

You heard anything about that?

Interesting that you say MGW have the strongest 2-3 spring. I was talking to a buddy who has said he has heard many people say they have blown their transmissions and or motors due to the fact that when they are powershifting into 4th from 3rd the shifter goes back into second due to the strong 2-3 spring.

In the second I do not know why anyone would say such a silly thing in the first--other than perhaps as a feeble way to cover their āss in explaining a blown shift.
How the HELL could you possibly shift from 3rd to 4th and hit 2nd--unless you had a very weak centering spring and/or a very weak wrist--the whole purpose of the centering spring is to keep the lever in the 3-4 gate. I.e the "center". One would have to force it to the left, fighting the centering spring, and into 2nd...
1 |3| 5
2 |4| R
The part between the vertical bars IS the "center", and 4th is straight back from third through the center...
In the last, I NEVER said that the MGW had a strong "2-3 spring"--I said that it had a stronger centering spring "...with the effect of a stronger spring being of most benefit in the 2-3 upshift."

Read this thread first--the MGW shifter is not for everyone, and certainly not for those who are just after bragging rights fort having an STS.
It IS for those who want the most precise shifter available for our cars.

It took me a day or two to get use to it but when I did WOW!! Worth every cent. As far as the missing third gear nothings impossible but man the MGW makes it alot harder...
