Ok just got back from the local engine shop (Huntsville Engines) and this is what they said..... if i bring them my motor they can build me one just like the MMR street mod 1000 for $2800. So i would have a stroked 4.6 that could handle 1000hp for under $3000. Then i'm thinking some head work and cams on top of the procharger and I'd be in good!

question is, is it covered under warranty? and do you trust them? are they taking your old block? are they pulling the motor or do you have to?

basically, what im tryin to get at is even if they told you 2800$, expect to pay more for some stuff incase something comes up. typically i've heard some people get quoted 3 grand for a build, then a couple months later come to find out they spent close to twice that much just for the build.

also note that 1000 hp is obviously a long shot to get with just a procharger...
what are your current goals? are you lookin for a dyno queen or something that actually runs fast? not all your money should be dumped into the motor, you need to balance it between motor, trans, rear end, and suspension.

edit: dont forget supporting mods... dunno what kind of fuel pump your using, but if your like me and went cheapy with just a SVT focus pump, you'll quickly see the limits of it, and even that with a KB Boost-a-pump is gunna be limited.

i just want around 600 rwhp. yeah i will be changing the tranny next to keep up with the motor. They said if I bring them my motor they will re-build it for $2800. Yeah i went with the svt pump. well before i pull the motor I'm gonna have them quote it in writing and I didnt ask about a warranty I will call them tomorrow and find out. I was just getting prices worked out. I want a fast street car. I was satisfied with the stock motor with 12 lbs of boost for a year or 2 but now I want more. I dont think i'll be doing the 4v swap just building the 2v up and having some fun!
