Wow I didn't realize so much oil got sucked through those lines. I might have to put one on too

if you remove your pleum and look in it, it will be full of black burnt off oil, a nice thick coat of it.

A little follow-up to this issue...

The PCV tube I ordered from LMR did end up being hard plastic so I no longer have any issues with the line sucking shut, on the other hand even after replacing this part the car still made the weird random rumbling/humming noise at idle.

Come to find out that weird noise was coming from my IAC valve. I cleaned it and the noise was gone for a few hours and then returned. I finally took it apart again and sprayed a little white lithium grease up in the IAC and I haven't heard anything since. Sure does beat buying a new valve.

Hopefully this will help you out with your expedition
