You well need the cobra ECU, the GT ECU will not open the IMRC on the cobra motor. It would be alot less headache to just get a cobra harness as well. Also im not sure but from 99 up i think the PATS system ties together the dash cluster and the ECU so you might have to look into that as well

damn so its definitely not just plug and play probably. i definitely appreciate the link though bro, it does help, i wasnt being sarcastic just fyi. if anyone else has any input let me know.

what all is involved in switching from packs to coils? is it as simple as getting a different 4v intake like 99/01 or mach 1?

there is one guy that swapped in a 97 mark VIII motor and used the gt harness and ecu from his gt and it runs fine for some reason. i was thinking about deleting the imrc anyway too.

he had an older GT, didnt have cops.

mentioned tho that you can use the valve covers from the newer mark 8 and use cops it looks like. not sure if this will hold true with the cobra (bolt patterns and such). youll have to do some research on that.

Yeah, the GT ECU and harness will work fine with the motor, tuning it would be best obviously, but it will run just fine on the GT tune. The Cobra harness probably won't work since there is added stuff like the knock sensors and the IMRC motor. Best to just stick with the GT ECU and harness, less hassle that way. The 97-98 Mark VIII valve covers are designed for COP, so that is probably what you would want.
