Default Rear end issues

So I got a flat tire yesterday and when I took the wheel off I noticed that the inside of it was covered in I think grease. So im thinking my ds rear axel seal is shot. Im trying to do everything to this car myself so...what am I getting my self into? Are their any special tools I need to have to do this, what kind of cost am I looking at? And the mustang is the only car I have that I can haul the kiddo in so abouts how long SHOULD this take to fix? Thanks

You can do it in an afternoon. I would first check the level of the differential oil first. If its not low don't worry about it. If your doing all the work yourself a Haynes manual is a good idea. I don't believe you need any special tools to get the seal out. Just remember to replace both sides while you are in there and to put the Friction Modifier in the gear oil.

ok so I was going to pull the drain plug on it to see if it was low and it looks like it is an allen wrench. Do you guys recall what size this is so I can go pick it up? Thanks!
