Follow up:

The brakes and gears are done. Here's what I've learned - take heed.

1) I bought a set of 4 SS lines. The right rear does not work without an adapter of some sort. The SS lines are for a Cobra and something is different on the right rear.

2) Supply your mechanic with spare copper washers. I did not. He removed the stock caliper, realized that the SS line would not work, and reinstalled the stock line. No new copper washer = leaking caliper.

3) Dimpled/slotted rotors are often unidirectional. My mech missed that day of class and I had to swap the front rotors at home the next day.

4) Dimpled/slotted rotors make noise, even when not breaking. They make more noise when braking. Sounds a lot like crickets having sex. (Assuming crickets make noise during sex)

5) When changing gears, forget the gasket. Black RTV is what Ford uses and it works well. My gasket is leaking, so now I have to drain 3 qts of Royal Purple, remove the girdle, remove the lame gasket, and RTV the rear. (If you use RP gear oil, friction modifier is not necessary. If you add a girdle to the rear, you need more fluid, at least another qt.

In the end, it was worth it. I can stop on a dime and the 3.73 gears, of course, are awesome.

Hope this helps someone. Learn from my errors.

Did you ever find out what adapter was needed? Did you use the front lines though?

Not yet. Honestly, I have not had the time to look into it. I spent the three-day weekend disassembling an '88 notch with my buddy. We replaced the rear control arms, shocks, and bushings, removed the front suspension and K member, and repinned the driver's door. 22 yo parts are a bastard to get loose.

I have 3 SS lines and one rubber. I know - it's bad to do it. I may have to go to Ford for the correct adapter. I think I'll have them reflush the line also, as I bumped from Dot 3 to Dot 5.

Also, I bought RTV and more RP for the rear, but I cannot get to that until next week. Next on my list of fun things is the entire suspension. All I need is a $3000 windfall to make it happen, lol.

Looks like Jazzer needs to pimp his suspension guide, so that 04Blue makes the right decisions here
