Default wipers being gay

on my moms 99 gt, the wipers only work when the dial is turned all the way up to the highest speed. otherwise, they dont move. we got a used wiper motor and it still does it, although we cant be 100% sure that motor works. she wants to just buy a new motor but i dont think that will fix it, i think it might be electrical. anyone have any ideas on what we can try before spending $100 on a new wiper motor?

the switch itself might be faulty. If you can get full movement, but nothing between, seems like a electrical problem with either the switch or whatever controls the voltage of the wipers (to regulate speed)

... it might even be one speed now that I think about it. Its possible that the switch uses some kind of timer circuit (or something)

just thinking out loud

The motor is fine. It receives a signal to turn on and off. The multifunction switch is likely bad. I'll let Cliff show you the diagram lol

Tell them you aren't into that and you have a girlfriend.

I am with Devon, I think it's the multifunction.

thanks for the diagrams. she said that the switch has been changed already and still has the problem. think it could be a bad wiring connection between the switch and motor, or between the motor and fuse box? she said the fuse has blown a couple times...

oooooooo that's a horse of a different color...that is going to take some opening up to troubleshoot then. It could be a zillion things then. I am not much good if I am not there with the vehicle to work on it...
